Hip-hop ode to Alexander Hamilton, shot to death by an American vice president. No duck hunting involved.

You think politics are bad now?

We once had a vice president (Aaron Burr) that killed one of the nation’s founding fathers (Alexander Hamilton) — and the only real charge against Vice President Burr was that he may have taken advantage of Hamilton, who was not known to be a gun person or have much interest in the duel. It is said that Hamilton’s gun only fired as he fell to the ground.

Alexander Hamilton was elected a member of the Continental Congress in 1782. Ol’Alexander was a leading proponent of a stronger national government and advocated a national government that would have virtually abolished the states. Hamilton supported a popularly elected president, but one that was president for life.

On the eve of the presidential election of 1800, Hamilton wrote a bitter personal attack on the president (Adams) that contained confidential cabinet information, intended to derail Aaron Burr’s chances of ever becoming president — Burr was campaigning against Jefferson and one other candidate. Hamilton’s effort worked. Burr lost to Jefferson … and it would eventually cost Hamilton his life.

Burr failed (barely) to win in the 1800 election and became Thomas Jefferson’s vice president (1801–1805). Being the vice president was a job given to the loser way back then.

Burr shot Hamilton dead while serving as the nation’s vice president in 1804.

Hamilton’s written attack was meant to be private and to rally support against Burr.

Somehow Hamilton’s attack letters were leaked and published by Burr himself.

Hamilton was destined to grace the front of a $10 dollar bill. And if there was ever an official opening for patron saint of the Federal Reserve it should be Hamilton that gets the nomination.

As for former Vice President Burr, he was arrested in 1807 for treason as he tried to start his own country. Charges were dropped and he soon left the U.S., returning some years later and lived life out as a successful lawyer and lobbyist.

So you think that 2011 is full of whine and vinegar when it comes to politics? Hell, we’ve always been this way.

Imagine if the Tea Party Was Black, by Tim Wise

by Tim Wise

Let’s play a game, shall we? The name of the game is called “Imagine.” The way it’s played is simple: we’ll envision recent happenings in the news, but then change them up a bit. Instead of envisioning white people as the main actors in the scenes we’ll conjure – the ones who are driving the action – we’ll envision black folks or other people of color instead. The object of the game is to imagine the public reaction to the events or incidents, if the main actors were of color, rather than white. Whoever gains the most insight into the workings of race in America, at the end of the game, wins.

So let’s begin.

Imagine that hundreds of black protesters were to descend upon Washington DC and Northern Virginia, just a few miles from the Capitol and White House, armed with AK-47s, assorted handguns, and ammunition. And imagine that some of these protesters —the black protesters — spoke of the need for political revolution, and possibly even armed conflict in the event that laws they didn’t like were enforced by the government? Would these protester — these black protesters with guns — be seen as brave defenders of the Second Amendment, or would they be viewed by most whites as a danger to the republic? What if they were Arab-Americans? Because, after all, that’s what happened recently when white gun enthusiasts descended upon the nation’s capital, arms in hand, and verbally announced their readiness to make war on the country’s political leaders if the need arose.

Imagine that white members of Congress, while walking to work, were surrounded by thousands of angry black people, one of whom proceeded to spit on one of those congressmen for not voting the way the black demonstrators desired. Would the protesters be seen as merely patriotic Americans voicing their opinions, or as an angry, potentially violent, and even insurrectionary mob? After all, this is what white Tea Party protesters did recently in Washington.

Imagine that a rap artist were to say, in reference to a white president: “He’s a piece of shit and I told him to suck on my machine gun.” Because that’s what rocker Ted Nugent said recently about President Obama.

Imagine that a prominent mainstream black political commentator had long employed an overt bigot as Executive Director of his organization, and that this bigot regularly participated in black separatist conferences, and once assaulted a white person while calling them by a racial slur. When that prominent black commentator and his sister — who also works for the organization — defended the bigot as a good guy who was misunderstood and “going through a tough time in his life” would anyone accept their excuse-making? Would that commentator still have a place on a mainstream network? Because that’s what happened in the real world, when Pat Buchanan employed as Executive Director of his group, America’s Cause, a blatant racist who did all these things, or at least their white equivalents: attending white separatist conferences and attacking a black woman while calling her the n-word.

Imagine that a black radio host were to suggest that the only way to get promoted in the administration of a white president is by “hating black people,” or that a prominent white person had only endorsed a white presidential candidate as an act of racial bonding, or blamed a white president for a fight on a school bus in which a black kid was jumped by two white kids, or said that he wouldn’t want to kill all conservatives, but rather, would like to leave just enough—“living fossils” as he called them—“so we will never forget what these people stood for.” After all, these are things that Rush Limbaugh has said, about Barack Obama’s administration, Colin Powell’s endorsement of Barack Obama, a fight on a school bus in Belleville, Illinois in which two black kids beat up a white kid, and about liberals, generally.

Imagine that a black pastor, formerly a member of the U.S. military, were to declare, as part of his opposition to a white president’s policies, that he was ready to “suit up, get my gun, go to Washington, and do what they trained me to do.” This is, after all, what Pastor Stan Craig said recently at a Tea Party rally in Greenville, South Carolina.

Imagine a black radio talk show host gleefully predicting a revolution by people of color if the government continues to be dominated by the rich white men who have been “destroying” the country, or if said radio personality were to call Christians or Jews non-humans, or say that when it came to conservatives, the best solution would be to “hang ‘em high.” And what would happen to any congressional representative who praised that commentator for “speaking common sense” and likened his hate talk to “American values?” After all, those are among the things said by radio host and best-selling author Michael Savage, predicting white revolution in the face of multiculturalism, or said by Savage about Muslims and liberals, respectively. And it was Congressman Culbertson, from Texas, who praised Savage in that way, despite his hateful rhetoric.

Imagine a black political commentator suggesting that the only thing the guy who flew his plane into the Austin, Texas IRS building did wrong was not blowing up Fox News instead. This is, after all, what Anne Coulter said about Tim McVeigh, when she noted that his only mistake was not blowing up the New York Times.

Imagine that a popular black liberal website posted comments about the daughter of a white president, calling her “typical redneck trash,” or a “whore” whose mother entertains her by “making monkey sounds.” After all that’s comparable to what conservatives posted about Malia Obama on freerepublic.com last year, when they referred to her as “ghetto trash.”

Imagine that black protesters at a large political rally were walking around with signs calling for the lynching of their congressional enemies. Because that’s what white conservatives did last year, in reference to Democratic party leaders in Congress.

In other words, imagine that even one-third of the anger and vitriol currently being hurled at President Obama, by folks who are almost exclusively white, were being aimed, instead, at a white president, by people of color. How many whites viewing the anger, the hatred, the contempt for that white president would then wax eloquent about free speech, and the glories of democracy? And how many would be calling for further crackdowns on thuggish behavior, and investigations into the radical agendas of those same people of color?

To ask any of these questions is to answer them. Protest is only seen as fundamentally American when those who have long had the luxury of seeing themselves as prototypically American engage in it. When the dangerous and dark “other” does so, however, it isn’t viewed as normal or natural, let alone patriotic. Which is why Rush Limbaugh could say, this past week, that the Tea Parties are the first time since the Civil War that ordinary, common Americans stood up for their rights: a statement that erases the normalcy and “American-ness” of blacks in the civil rights struggle, not to mention women in the fight for suffrage and equality, working people in the fight for better working conditions, and LGBT folks as they struggle to be treated as full and equal human beings.

And this, my friends, is what white privilege is all about. The ability to threaten others, to engage in violent and incendiary rhetoric without consequence, to be viewed as patriotic and normal no matter what you do, and never to be feared and despised as people of color would be, if they tried to get away with half the shit we do, on a daily basis.

Game Over.

Bill4DogCatcher.com sez: I am friendly to both Coffee and to Tea Partiers. However, Tim Wise puts describes a Tea Party movement in a light that has many valid points. There are those that believe the Tea Party has many racists. I disagree — but would agree that White America would have a cow if the Tea Party were overwhelmingly Black or Brown or …

Tim Wise is among the most prominent anti-racist writers and activists in the U.S. Wise has spoken in 48 states, on over 400 college campuses, and to community groups around the nation. Wise has provided anti-racism training to teachers nationwide, and has trained physicians and medical industry professionals on how to combat racial inequities in health care. His latest book is called Between Barack and a Hard Place.

Arizona – A Tragedy, A Political Football & Political Barometer

Arizona is already feeling the impact of its new law making it a misdemeanor to not provide proof of  U.S. residence when asked — although to hear many critics the law is all about ‘proof of citizenship‘.

As someone that routinely travels the world I know that my presence is tracked in other countries. When entering a country it is often common protocol to declare a street address or hotel where I will be staying.

But this is the U.S.A. where many argue that we should fight any attempt to have a basic national ID card. On the face of it, this law contradicts what most Americans consider to be the norm: you only ask for identification when a law is broken, or suspicion exists.

Surely native born Americans do not walk around with their birth certificates. And we reject any attempt to issue any formal identification card … there are even those that think that America is a great land just because we can almost just disappear if we wish — although that is wishful thinking of a time long past.

REALITY CHECK

Yet, Arizona has real challenges. People are dying and being kidnapped and murdered in the desert, and in the towns and even in Arizona’s major cities.

Drug and contraband smugglers are running rampant and illegal immigrants are being abandoned once they cross the U.S. border into Arizona.

If the U.S. federal government fails to live up to its constitutional authority to protect our borders and to protect our citizens then Arizona is well within its rights to take action within its own borders.

Many Americans forget that we have ‘states‘ not ‘provinces‘. The difference between the two are not just semantics. We are a nation of states, each with constitutionally protected powers. The people of Arizona have a right and the authority to take action in their own defense.

There are those that want to make Arizona’s situation about being a roundup or harassment of illegal immigrants — I don’t think so. Illegal immigrants live among us because our society needs them. Yes, I believe that. Our economy strongly needs these undocumented guest workers. Although it would be nice if we could find a way to make guest workers and their families legal — although we tried that and it was Arizona’s senior senator who took enormous amounts of flaming arrows for trying to find a solution: John McCain.

Reality however is that Arizona has real issues on its border with Mexico, and its proximity to major border crossing areas in California and New Mexico.

Here is a short list of the violence and crime on its borders and that is spilling across its borders – you can find an amazingly long list of border violence incidents since the mid-2000s by googling: Arizona Border Violence:

  • Mexican criminals routinely cross the border and commit burglaries, kidnappings, assaults and home invasions. (1)
  • There were 366 kidnappings just in the Phoenix, Arizona area during 2009. (3)
  • Armed gunmen attacked the U.S. Nogales City police department (Nov 14, 2008).
  • Bajadores smugglers attack each other with semiautomatic assault rifles to steal the other’s human cargo for its value; current Homeland Security Chief Janet Napolitano (D), and former Arizona governor, actually declared a state of emergency in 2005 when things got out of control in the same area.
  • Federal agents discover 65 stash houses just in the Phoenix, Arizona area (2005-2006). (2)

And did I mention that U.S. federal authorities estimate that the death toll just over Arizona’s border has  reached almost 10,000 killed in cartel violence just since 2006? (4)

My prayers and well wishes are with Arizonans AND with those immigrants that have chosen to come to the land of opportunity and to start a new life — legally or illegally.

I don’t believe that the new Arizona law is aimed at immigrants in general. The border is a mess and the federal government under both Presidents Bush and Obama have utterly failed to carry out their oath of office to protect Americans against all enemies, both foreign and domestic — at least when it comes to the Arizonan-Mexican border.

Tea Party Events Being Sabotaged By Outside Group? Maybe So!

NOT GOOD – It appears that there is a group of individuals that are out to misbehave at Tea Party events so the Tea Partyers get the credit — in a manner of speaking.

If the Tea Partyers are so wrong that they naturally trip themselves up then why would they need an outside group to impersonate them and to cause problems?

Wrong is wrong. This is very wrong and calls into question much of the recent reported misbehavior on the part of Tea Partyers — especially since we know that some of the most significant misbehavior reported during the March 20th and 21st health care bill vote did not actually happen as reported by the press.

The group causing mischief is CrashTheTeaParty.org.

From the CrashTheTeaParty.org website:

About Us

WHO WE ARE: A nationwide network of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents who are all sick and tired of that loose affiliation of racists, homophobes, and morons; who constitute the fake grass-roots movement which calls itself “The Tea Party.”

WHAT WE WANT: To dismantle and demolish the Tea Party by any non-violent means necessary.

HOW WE WILL SUCCEED: By infiltrating the Tea party itself! In an effort to propagate their pre-existing propensity for paranoia and suspicion…We have already sat quietly in their meetings, and observed their rallies.

Whenever possible, we will act on behalf of the Tea Party in ways which exaggerate their least appealing qualities (misspelled protest signs, wild claims in TV interviews, etc.) to further distance them from mainstream America and damage the public’s opinion of them. We will also use the inside information that we have gained in order to disrupt and derail their plans.

Sound like fun? It is!! If you’d like to join us, just click on the word “crash!” below…

An open letter to conservatives by AmericanDad, aka Russell King

Bill4DogCatcher sez: The original version of this letter can be found here. While I may not agree with everything, the points made in this letter are largely and overwhelmingly valid criticism of the state of American conservatism in 2010.

Dear Conservative Americans,

The years have not been kind to you. I grew up in a profoundly Republican home, so I can remember when you wore a very different face than the one we see now. You’ve lost me and you’ve lost most of America. Because I believe having responsible choices is important to democracy, I’d like to give you some advice and an invitation.

First, the invitation: Come back to us.

Now the advice. You’re going to have to come up with a platform that isn’t built on a foundation of cowardice: fear of people with colors, religions, cultures and sex lives that differ from your own; fear of reform in banking, health care, energy; fantasy fears of America being transformed into an Islamic nation, into social/commun/fasc-ism, into a disarmed populace put in internment camps; and more. But you have work to do even before you take on that task.

Your party — the GOP — and the conservative end of the American political spectrum have become irresponsible and irrational. Worse, it’s tolerating, promoting and celebrating prejudice and hatred. Let me provide some examples — by no means an exhaustive list — of where the Right as gotten itself stuck in a swamp of hypocrisy, hyperbole, historical inaccuracy and hatred.

If you’re going to regain your stature as a party of rational, responsible people, you’ll have to start by draining this swamp:

Hypocrisy

You can’t flip out — and threaten impeachment - when Dems use a parliamentary procedure (deem and pass) that you used repeatedly (more than 35 times in just one session and more than 100 times in all!), that’s centuries old and which the courts have supported. Especially when your leaders admit it all.

You can’t vote and scream against the stimulus package and then take credit for the good it’s done in your own district (happily handing out enormous checks representing money that you voted against, is especially ugly) — 114 of you (at last count) did just that — and it’s even worse when you secretly beg for more.

You can’t fight against your own ideas just because the Dem president endorses your proposal.

You can’t call for a pay-as-you-go policy, and then vote against your own ideas.

Are they “unlawful enemy combatants” or are they “prisoners of war” at Gitmo? You can’t have it both ways.

You can’t carry on about the evils of government spending when your family has accepted more than a quarter-million dollars in government handouts.

You can’t refuse to go to a scheduled meeting, to which you were invited, and then blame the Dems because they didn’t meet with you.

You can’t rail against using teleprompters while using teleprompters. Repeatedly.

You can’t rail against the bank bailouts when you supported them as they were happening.

You can’t be for immigration reform, then against it .

You can’t enjoy socialized medicine while condemning it.

You can’t flip out when the black president puts his feet on the presidential desk when you were silent about white presidents doing the same. Bush. Ford.

You can’t complain that the president hasn’t closed Gitmo yet when you’ve campaigned to keep Gitmo open.

You can’t flip out when the black president bows to foreign dignitaries, as appropriate for their culture, when you were silent when the white presidents did the same. Bush. Nixon. Ike. You didn’t even make a peep when Bush held hands and kissed leaders of countries that are not on “kissing terms” with the US.

You can’t complain that the undies bomber was read his Miranda rights under Obama when the shoe bomber was read his Miranda rights under Bush and you remained silent. (And, no, Newt — the shoe bomber was not a US citizen either, so there is no difference.)

You can’t attack the Dem president for not personally* publicly condemning a terrorist event for 72 hours when you said nothing about the Rep president waiting 6 days in an eerily similar incident (and, even then, he didn’t issue any condemnation). *Obama administration did the day of the event.

You can’t throw a hissy fit, sound alarms and cry that Obama freed Gitmo prisoners who later helped plan the Christmas Day undie bombing, when — in fact — only one former Gitmo detainee, released by Dick Cheney and George W. Bush, helped to plan the failed attack.

You can’t condemn blaming the Republican president for an attempted terror attack on his watch, then blame the Dem president for an attempted terror attack on his.

You can’t mount a boycott against singers who say they’re ashamed of the president for starting a war, but remain silent when another singer says he’s ashamed of the president and falsely calls him a Maoist who makes him want to throw up and says he ought to be in jail.

You can’t cry that the health care bill is too long, then cry that it’s too short.

You can’t support the individual mandate for health insurance, then call it unconstitutional when Dems propose it and campaign against your own ideas.

You can’t demand television coverage, then whine about it when you get it. Repeatedly.

You can’t praise criminal trials in US courts for terror suspects under a Rep president, then call it “treasonous” under a Dem president.

You can’t propose ideas to create jobs, and then work against them when the Dems put your ideas in a bill.

You can’t be both pro-choice and anti-choice.

You can’t damn someone for failing to pay $900 in taxes when you’ve paid nearly $20,000 in IRS fines.

You can’t condemn criticizing the president when US troops are in harms way, then attack the president when US troops are in harms way , the only difference being the president’s party affiliation (and, by the way, armed conflict does NOT remove our right and our duty as Americans to speak up).

You can’t be both for cap-and-trade policy and against it.

You can’t vote to block debate on a bill, then bemoan the lack of ‘open debate’.

If you push anti-gay legislation and make anti-gay speeches, you should probably take a pass on having gay sex, regardless of whether it’s 2004 or 2010. This is true, too, if you’re taking GOP money and giving anti-gay rants on CNN. Taking right-wing money and GOP favors to write anti-gay stories for news sites while working as a gay prostitute, doubles down on both the hypocrisy and the prostitution. This is especially true if you claim your anti-gay stand is God’s stand, too.

When you chair the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children, you can’t send sexy emails to 16-year-old boys (illegal anyway, but you made it hypocritical as well).

You can’t criticize Dems for not doing something you didn’t do while you held power over the past 16 years, especially when the Dems have done more in one year than you did in 16.

You can’t decry “name calling” when you’ve been the most consistent and outrageous at it. And the most vile.

You can’t spend more than 40 years hating, cutting and trying to kill Medicare, and then pretend to be the defenders of Medicare

You can’t praise the Congressional Budget Office when it’s analysis produces numbers that fit your political agenda, then claim it’s unreliable when it comes up with numbers that don’t.

You can’t vote for X under a Republican president, then vote against X under a Democratic president. Either you support X or you don’t. And it makes it worse when you change your position merely for the sake obstructionism.

You can’t call a reconciliation out of bounds when you used it repeatedly.

You can’t spend taxpayer money on ads against spending taxpayer money.

You can’t condemn individual health insurance mandates in a Dem bill, when the mandates were your idea.

You can’t demand everyone listen to the generals when they say what fits your agenda, and then ignore them when they don’t.

You can’t whine that it’s unfair when people accuse you of exploiting racism for political gain, when your party’s former leader admits you’ve been doing it for decades.

You can’t portray yourself as fighting terrorists when you openly and passionately support terrorists.

You can’t complain about a lack of bipartisanship when you’ve routinely obstructed for the sake of political gain — threatening to filibuster at least 100 pieces of legislation in one session, far more than any other since the procedural tactic was invented — and admitted it. Some admissions are unintentional, others are made proudly. This is especially true when the bill is the result of decades of compromise between the two parties and is filled with your own ideas.

You can’t question the loyalty of Department of Justice lawyers when you didn’t object when your own Republican president appointed them.

You can’t preach and try to legislate “Family Values” when you: take nude hot tub dips with teenagers (and pay them hush money); cheat on your wife with a secret lover and lie about it to the world; cheat with a staffer’s wife (and pay them off with a new job); pay hookers for sex while wearing a diaper and cheating on your wife; or just enjoying an old fashioned non-kinky cheating on your wife; try to have gay sex in a public toilet; authorize the rape of children in Iraqi prisons to coerce their parents into providing information; seek, look at or have sex with children; replace a guy who cheats on his wife with a guy who cheats on his pregnant wife with his wife’s mother;

Hyperbole

You really need to disassociate with those among you who:

History

If you’re going to use words like socialism, communism and fascism, you must have at least a basic understanding of what those words mean (hint: they’re NOT synonymous!)

You can’t cut a leading Founding Father out the history books because you’ve decided you don’t like his ideas.

You cant repeatedly assert that the president refuses to say the word “terrorism” or say we’re at war with terror when we have an awful lot of videotape showing him repeatedly assailing terrorism and using those exact words.

If you’re going to invoke the names of historical figures, it does not serve you well to whitewash them. Especially this one.

You can’t just pretend historical events didn’t happen in an effort to make a political opponent look dishonest or to make your side look better. Especially these events. (And, no, repeating it doesn’t make it better.)

You can’t say things that are simply and demonstrably false: health care reform will not push people out of their private insurance and into a government-run program ; health care reform (which contains a good many of your ideas and very few from the Left) is a long way from “socialist utopia”; health care reform is not “reparations”; nor does health care reform create “death panels”.

Hatred

You have to condemn those among you who:

Oh, and I’m not alone: One of your most respected and decorated leaders agrees with me.

So, dear conservatives, get to work. Drain the swamp of the conspiracy nuts, the bald-faced liars undeterred by demonstrable facts, the overt hypocrisy and the hatred. Then offer us a calm, responsible, grownup agenda based on your values and your vision for America. We may or may not agree with your values and vision, but we’ll certainly welcome you back to the American mainstream with open arms. We need you.

(Anticipating your initial response: No there is nothing that even comes close to this level of wingnuttery on the American Left.)

Political Correctness Breaks Out: Only Conservatives Are Violent & Angry & Hateful

Americans Calling For Politicians To Denounce The Growing Calls of Violence ” — I was glad to see this Facebook group pop up immediately after the health care reform vote and all of the craziness that went with it.

The group’s moderator does a great job of keeping things in check. However, it began to bother me that only one group was deemed capable of violence.

After a few days the trend among some of the contributors was clear: it was ONLY the conservatives and Teabaggers and Rightwingers that were violent and angry … and they were very, very dangerous.

As many of you know: I self-proclaim to be conservative.

But did you know that I am also active in the Coffee Party movement? I don’t froth at the mouth when I have something to say, my research into political trends is fairly comprehensive, and I spend most of my time lobbing questions about conduct towards those on the right.

Anyone that reads Bill4DogCatcher often should be able to vouch for me having some sense of balance and fair play.

I met ‘political correctness‘ today and there are folks that want me to feel dirty! guilty! full of remorse for having an agenda!

My agenda:  work against political violence and provocation for political violence.

But the agenda that I am supposedly guilty of is something different … the reality is that I published photos of protesters calling for violence and death against someone that is not someone on the left, or left of right. That is unacceptable. Only the right is violent and dangerous.

In doing some research I ran across an article from the Huffington Post ”10 Most Offensive Tea Party Signs And Extensive Photo Coverage From Tax Day Protests (PHOTOS)’, from December 28, 2009 — exactly 90 days ago.

Holy cow, thought I, these photos are nothing compared to the anti-Bush signs that Americans saw from 2003-2008. There is a doublestandard at work.

So I republished the anti-Bush signs in the group denouncing political violence.

The anti-Bush photos easily depict the story of how conservatives and the Right and the TEA folks actually are mild in their ability to call for violence compared to what is shown in the anti-Bush photos — see end of blog story for just some of the photos.

Bill4DogCatcher.com is no friend of the Bush Administration. In 2004, this dog voted Kerry. Bill4DogCatcher has been very critical of Bush and Bush policies. Yet … political correctness is strong with the force.

To prove the point that anger and violence and dangerous people exist just as much on  the left as on the right I posted some of the anti-Bush photos. After a few ‘WTF’ responses, I challenged folks to find one, just one, photo calling for the death of Obama — yes many tactless and racist signs have marched in protest — but I didn’t find any death to Obama signs in my Google searches. What I did find was tons of ‘Death to Bush’ signs and signs with very descriptive ways in which he should die.

Within hours of me posting the anti-Bush photos:

  • Several folks wanted them off Facebook as being not relevant to the topic  — denouncing calls for political violence.
  • My favorite response is ‘The lefties are all talk. Those on the right will actually hurt you’. …. ummm, really? So?
  • A number of folks wrote things like ‘the whole world hates Bush’s guts‘ … ‘it is Bush after all‘.
  • One reader repeatedly took me to task for trying to compare the photos to those in the Huffington Post storythat story is old (90 days is old?) … the point is that while tacky the ’10 worst’ signs focused on policy not a person.
  • Another reader wanted to know where I got the photos … off a conservative website, right? … Hello, no! I gave the Google search criteria used to find my photos: ‘Anti-Bush protest sign‘. … But what if I had found them on a conservative website? Does information from a conservative website invalidate the message in the photos or the MANY, MANY photos available on the web that called for Bush’s violent death?

Bottom Line: Advocating political violence and actual violence is wrong. We should work to dissuade, to confront, and to vigorously enforce laws quickly against those that would use or advocate violence. However, ignoring the calls for violence from one end of the political spectrum and calling it ‘discourse’ is also not acceptable.

Accept no excuses. Make no excuses. Do not be a hypocrite — it’s contagious!

WARNING: the following images depict anger and hate and a call for violence that no one has seen in almost two years — although many people may think they have seen signs like these because the media constantly barrages us with how one part of America is just so, so … well, you know.

Political Violence – New Facebook Group Calls For Help In Denouncing Growing Calls For Violence

A new group on Facebook is tracking political violence and working to minimize it. There is a lot more going on than being reported in the general media. And it is not all aimed at just Democrats — like the doors of the GOP HQ that got superglued shut.

Americans Calling For Politicians To Denounce The Growing Calls of Violence

I really needed to sleep in; however, when I woke up, this violence was still continuing. This time, it seems that the GOP offices were being targeted. I knew this would eventually happen, and it’s exactly why I want us all to demand that our representatives stand up and speak against this publicly.

Until our politicians stop their own bickering, they are setting the wrong tone and serving as bad examples for their constituents. This needs to STOP… NOW! Somebody is going to get hurt… or worse!

There are other groups that are not red or blue… just waiting, and loving every minute of the discourse. WE NEED TO BE BIPARTISAN in this effort and quell this, for our own safety and our national security. If we are too busy bickering with each other over petty crap, how will we see the real threats when they just calmly walk in? And by “petty” I don’t mean to suggest that one party losing their stand is nothing to be upset about. Far from it. But in the broad scheme of things, it is not the most important thing. The USA has historically made many of its important decisions with a “winning side” and a “losing side.” But by design, if we don’t like the changes we have made, we can revisit them. THAT’S our strength in this country.

We really need to get back to debating like adults in our government. Yes, sometimes things get heated, but when they do, we need to take responsibility for our OWN actions and not pass the buck. If our elected leaders aren’t willing to do this, we need to find some who ARE willing. Again, I don’t care if you are red or blue. I’m not saying that if you are a Republican you need to vote for a Democrat. You just need to find a better Republican to represent you AND OUR COUNTRY. We need leaders who will make us proud!

Again, there are groups just waiting for the right times to take advantage of any weaknesses we show. This world becomes a smaller place every day. The way I look at it: remember when you were a tiny child and your home was your whole world? Then you got a little older and it became your block (or farm). As a teen, wow, you got to travel to town… all by yourself! Then one day, you got your drivers license. You got to travel as far as you wanted. And your block was an instant, and your town was only a few minutes away… and the world… then entire world, was at most a day away! The world became a smaller place to you, without you realizing it.

So, if you don’t think the world is watching us… if you don’t think they see what is going on…. especially with news 24/7, and the Internet… REAL terrorist groups abroad, and yes, at home… then you are being naive. And I know my members are NOT naive. That’s why you joined — to make a difference!

I have said it before, and I’ll continue to say it. I am unbelievably grateful and humbled for the support this group has gotten. It has grown into something much more than I could have wished for. Out of more than 1,100 members (as of last night) there have only been four troublemakers, and three were banned. FOUR out of more than 1,100!

Here comes my shameless plug now (lol): Please, whoever you haven’t sent invites to (yet), please send them out. Please post the link on your page, and repost it after a few hours. Ask your friends to cross-post (repost themselves). Promote the HELL outta the site! We need so many more people to be effective.

I would love to organize a phone call day when we get the numbers high enough. One or two people calling their reps, while great, isn’t all that effective. However, if we can get THOUSANDS to call on the same day?? THAT would make a difference!

My mailbox is always open if you have questions or concerns that you can’t resolve within the group.

I wish you all a great day, and more importantly… a safe day!

Chris
